Fair Grounds // 01-MAR

Happy Fat Tuesday! It's the first day of March and we're inching closer and closer to Spring weather, a bout of madness, and, with a little luck, back to America's past time. But before we get there, we have ponies to play! So today we're headed to the Big Easy to party and watch thoroughbreds at Fair Grounds Race Course. Today's card includes 9 races, lotsa runners and features Race 8, the $75K Mardi Gras Stakes. Running conditions are looking great with firm turf, a fast track and temperatures in the mid 60's with party cloudy skies. First post is at 11:05 PM Pacific. Bring your beads!

Need help pickin' winners? We've got you covered! Our #LundinLine top picks and best bets are below in this post. We use them to help narrow down the field while we're puttin' our tickets together. Think of our Lundin Line as another tool in your horse-picking tool belt. And our picks are FREE, as always, so hit up @TSDaveW and let him know what you think. Let's get Fat Tuesday started and fatten our pockets! First post will be here before you know it, so don't be late. Saddle up and ride with us. Let's get #InTheMoney!

Let's check out today's Best Value Horse (BVH). What's our BVH, you ask? Our Best Value Horse is probably not going off as the favorite and is unlikely to to go off with the longest odds. Simply put - our Best Value Horse is a runner our very own @TSDaveW likes with morning line odds around 7-1. This will be a horse that should be competitive, and if it hits, you'll be glad you played it! Odd, of course, change throughout the day, however we're lookin' at Morning Line (M/L) Odds when making these picks.

BVH for Fair Grounds

Race #4 / $20K Claiming / 5 1/2 Furlongs on turf

May Hour (#6)

Half Ours / May Idle

M/L: 8-1

May Hour is moving down from an Allowance Optional Claiming ($35K) race on February 4th. This 6 year old gelding by Half Ours couldn’t recover from an unusual move to the rail from Yankee Seven and finished 6th out of 8. Yankee Seven went on to win his next race, as did X Clown from that same race. May Hour’s prior two races earned him a 97 & 96 respectively with the 96 earned in a 2nd (by a neck) finish on the turf at Fair Grounds in December. going at today’s 5 1/2 furlongs. I believe this is Denver City’s race to lose but hope to see the well rounded May Hour stay close to his M/L odds. Starting the day off with 8-1 odd, May Hour (#6) is our Best Value Horse on today's card at Fair Grounds. Best of Luck!
