Happy Sunday & National Help a Horse Day!
We told you the goal was to get as many races in as possible to get you and us ready for the Kentucky Oaks on Friday and the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, so we’re back with a nine-race card at Churchill Downs today. Yesterday was a little rough for us, as we only hit two top-pick winners and four more second-pick winners, but our best bet did win, so that’s a positive. If we’d followed our tracking of $2 win bets on both the top pick and second choice, we would have had a negative ROI for the day.
Our best stretch was in races 7 to 9, where we hit three in a row, so hopefully you hit a couple of doubles or a Pick 3 to save your day. As noted, we have nine races today but no stakes. The featured race comes in the 6th. This is an allowance optional claiming race with a purse of $141k and will be contested at 5.5 furlongs on the dirt.
Today’s weather will be great for Sunday Funday at the track, with highs in the mid-70s and mostly sunny skies. The dirt is rated fast and the turf is firm, so we’re in for a great day of racing with a smaller card to close out the weekend.
