Happy Saturday & National Zucchini Bread Day!
We’re excited to be celebrating opening day of the Churchill Downs spring meet, which means we’re just one week away from the Run for the Roses! Our goal is to bring you as much action as possible over the next week, so be on the lookout for the Lundin Line every day from today through Kentucky Derby Day next Saturday—excluding Monday, when there is no racing.
Today’s opening-day card features 10 races, including one stakes race, and is a great way to get back into the swing of things and gear up for the Derby. The featured race goes as the ninth: the $200k Roxelana Stakes for fillies and mares, four years old and up, contested at six furlongs on the dirt.
The weather today is starting off a bit rough, with rain in the forecast, but conditions should improve as the day goes on. We’re expecting highs in the mid-70s with mostly cloudy skies. The good news is that the rain should not affect the track: the dirt is currently rated fast and the turf is firm.
