Happy Friday & D-Day Remembrance Day! 🇺🇸🏴🇫🇷🇨🇳🇷🇺
We’ve made it to the weekend and are ready to get back into the action, playing the ponies at the Belmont Racing Festival in Saratoga. Yesterday was not a successful day for our Lundin Line top-rated. We only had three top pick winners and two second pick winners, resulting in a negative ROI regardless of how you structured your tickets.
Horse racing is tough, and it's challenging to succeed every day. We’re relying on athletes to perform consistently, as they did in similar races, while also expecting their competitors not to improve or exceed their past performances. However, we remain undeterred and are back in the saddle today, ready to take on the full card.
Today, there are a total of fourteen races scheduled, including six stakes races, and the third leg of the unofficial filly Triple Crown. While there is no official filly Triple Crown, there is a race each Friday leading up to the official Triple Crown races, featuring the top three-year-old fillies, similar to those in the big Saturday races.
The third leg of the filly Triple Crown is the DK Horse Acorn Stakes, a 1 & 1/8 mile race on the dirt course with a purse of $500,000. The Kentucky Oaks winner, Good Cheer, is back and ready to prove she is indeed the top filly of this year’s crop. She is undefeated in seven career races and has made most of those victories look easy. She will face six other fillies attempting to dethrone her, most notably the four horse, Shred the Gnar. While she has not yet competed in a stakes race, we believe she has a chance to continue improving and challenge Good Cheer today.
The featured race is the New York Stakes presented by Rivers Casino, which follows the Acorn. This race is a 1 & 3/16 mile route on the turf course with a purse of $750,000. We highlight this as the featured race because of its larger purse, but in our eyes, the Acorn is the true feature of the day.
Don’t forget to check out all the action today, as the ladies will be featured throughout the races. Be aware that the weather is expected to take a turn for the worse, with highs in the mid-70s and rain predicted for most of the day. Keep an eye out for changes in track conditions and potential scratches, as we can’t predict how things will unfold in that regard.
