Happy Saturday & CA Beer Festival @ Santa Anita 🍺🍻🍺🍻

We’re back on the track—though really, are we ever off it? It’s always on our minds, and we want to cap every card, but can’t always do it thanks to real-life responsibilities. Still, we’re ready to help you cash more tickets.

If you joined us on X earlier this week, we played the ponies at Parx and did very well, especially considering that track’s reputation from a horseplayer’s perspective. We hit 5 of 10 top picks for a profit of $2.80, an ROI of 14%. If you dug a bit deeper and used our second choices, you hit 8 of 10 races for a profit of $15.40, an ROI of 38.5%.

Remember, our tracking is based on a hypothetical $2 win bet on each horse tracked. If you stacked your tickets correctly using all of our posted horses, you also hit the late Pick 5 that day. This is an improvement from our run at Laurel Park during the Preakness Festival, where we ended up with a negative ROI over the three days.

As noted, today we’re headed to sunny SoCal and Santa Anita Park for a nice 10-race card. There are five stakes races on tap, along with plenty of beer to go with them.

Today’s featured race comes in the eighth, the Snow Chief Stakes presented by City National Bank. This is a 1 1/8-mile route on the turf course for three-year-old California-bred horses. We’ll have 10 runners in this race, so it’s shaping up to be a strong feature.

The weather today in Arcadia will be exceptional, with highs in the mid-70s and sunny skies.

Santa Anita Park, located in Arcadia, California, opened on December 25, 1934, as the first legally sanctioned racetrack in Southern California after the state legalized parimutuel wagering. Founded by tycoon Charles H. "Doc" Strub and cinematic legend Hal Roach, the track quickly became a premier destination for Thoroughbred racing, renowned for its stunning Art Deco architecture and the backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is famously linked to the legendary Seabiscuit, who secured a dramatic victory in the 1940 Santa Anita Handicap, a race often referred to as the "Big 'Cap." During World War II, the facility took a somber turn when it was closed to racing and served as the Santa Anita Assembly Center, a temporary detention camp for Japanese Americans before they were sent to internment camps. Reopening in 1945, Santa Anita restored its status as a cornerstone of American racing, hosting numerous Breeders' Cup World Championships and witnessing the triumphs of greats like Affirmed, Spectacular Bid, and Zenyatta, while remaining one of the most aesthetically celebrated sporting venues in the world.

Need help picking winners? We've got you covered! Our (Always Free) Lundin Line's top picks and best bets are below. We use them to help narrow the field while putting our tickets together. The first post will be here soon, so don't be late........ It's time to get #InTheMoney! 💰💰💰

May 23rd & 24th - California Beer Festival @ Santa Anita

Beer is one of humanity's oldest beverages, with evidence of its production dating back to ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt around 5,000-7,000 BCE, where it was often safer to drink than water and played important roles in religious ceremonies and daily nutrition. The Sumerians even had a goddess of beer, Ninkasi, and left behind detailed brewing recipes in cuneiform tablets. Throughout the Middle Ages, European monasteries became centers of brewing excellence, refining techniques and developing styles that would influence modern beer. The Industrial Revolution transformed brewing from a cottage industry into a large-scale commercial enterprise, with innovations like refrigeration, pasteurization, and controlled fermentation enabling consistent production and distribution. German brewing traditions, particularly the Reinheitsgebot (beer purity law) of 1516, helped standardize quality, while the 20th century saw the rise of mass-produced lagers dominating global markets, followed by a craft beer renaissance beginning in the 1970s that has revived traditional styles and sparked unprecedented innovation in flavors and brewing techniques.
