Happy Black-Eyed Susan Fridayš» & National NASCAR Day! š
The second jewel of the Triple Crown is upon us, and the ladies take center stage today. Weāre still at Laurel Park as Preakness weekend continues at this sister track to Pimlico.
Yesterday, rain earlier in the week forced races off the turf, and so many scratches occurred that we couldnāt properly track our plays for record-keeping. Today, however, is shaping up to be a great day of racing: 14 total races, six stakes, and plenty of chances to sneak in a bet during the workday.
The featured event is Race 13, the George E. Mitchell Black-Eyed Susan Stakes. This Grade 2, 1 1/8-mile route on the dirt is restricted to three-year-old fillies and carries a purse of $300,000. While no horses from the Kentucky Oaks are wheeling back in this spot, we still have 10 strong starters and plenty of opportunities to cash some tickets.
With this many races on tap, there are far more ways to get creative with your betting today. The two-day double is one of our favorite wagers, and with our best bet landing in that sequence, weāre hoping to head into tomorrow with a live ticket in hand.
The weather today looks much better, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s under partly sunny skies. The main track is rated fast and the turf is firm, so we should see fewer scratches. That means we can build more tickets and accurately track our plays for you.
Weāll have full coverage tomorrow, starting early at 7:30 a.m. PDT. While this weekend doesnāt come with quite the same pomp and circumstance as two weeks ago, itās still a jewel of the Triple Crown season and deserves to be celebrated in a similar way.
Weāre happy to be here, capping the races and helping you find a few extra bucks to add to that bankroll.
Need help picking winners? We've got you covered! Our (Always Free) Lundin Line'sĀ top picks and best bets are below. We use them to help narrow the field while putting our tickets together. The first post will be here soon, so don't be late........ It's time to get #InTheMoney! š°š°š°

š»The Black-Eyed Susan Stakes is a prominent American Thoroughbred horse race for three-year-old fillies, traditionally held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland (for 2026 - Laurel Park), on the Friday before the Preakness Stakes. First run in 1919, the race is named after the black-eyed Susan flower, which is associated with Maryland and famously decorates the blanket awarded to the Preakness winner. Over the decades, the race has grown into one of the most important events for fillies in the spring racing calendar, often serving as a showcase for top female talent. Its distance and grading have changed over time, but it has long remained a key fixture of Preakness (for 2026 - Laurel Park) weekend, combining sporting prestige with regional tradition and helping highlight the rich history of Maryland racing.
