Happy Saturday & National Cheese Fondue Day! 🧀

We’re in a bit of a “slow” period for horse racing, even as anticipation for the 152nd Kentucky Derby continues to build. The final prep race of the season is today, but none of the runners can crack into the current top 20. So, we decided to head back to one of our favorite tracks in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and play the ponies at Oaklawn Racecourse.

Oaklawn is home to four Derby prep races and three Oaks prep races, making it a key track in shaping the fields for both races on the first weekend in May. Today’s card features 12 races, including two stakes, and offers plenty of opportunity to cash some tickets during a quieter time on the sports calendar.

The featured event is Race 10, the $1.25M Apple Blossom Handicap. This Grade 1 dirt route is contested at 1 1/16 miles for fillies and mares, four years old and up. Both of our cappers believe the morning-line favorite, Nitrogen, will get the job done. She’s hit the board in all 14 career starts and was crowned the 2025 Eclipse Award Filly of the Year. This will be her third start of the season, and she comes in with one win and one show from her first two races of the year.

Will she be back in the winner’s circle today, or will another top filly from years past steal the spotlight? Check out our top plays below to find out.

The weather today should be beautiful, with highs in the mid-80s and mostly sunny skies. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms later, but it shouldn’t impact the card. Oaklawn has only a dirt surface, and it’s been rated fast for today’s races.

🏇2026 Breeders' Cup - Oct. 30-31 - Keeneland, KY🏇

The Breeders' Cup Challenge Series is a global set of “Win and You’re In” races that awards automatic entry to the prestigious Breeders’ Cup World Championships. Held at top racetracks across North America, Europe, Asia, and beyond, these designated races span multiple divisions—such as dirt, turf, sprint, and juvenile categories—ensuring that elite horses from around the world can qualify for championship competition. Winners not only secure a starting position in the corresponding Breeders’ Cup race but also typically receive paid entry fees and travel incentives, making the series a key pathway that elevates international participation and showcases the highest level of Thoroughbred racing throughout the season.

Need help picking winners? We've got you covered! Our (Always Free) Lundin Line's top picks and best bets are below. We use them to help narrow the field while putting our tickets together. The first post will be here soon, so don't be late - It's time to get #InTheMoney! 💰💰💰
