Happy Small Business Saturday!

It’s Saturday and we’re back at Churchill Downs in Louisville, KY, where the Derby and Oaks Trail return in full swing. Our Lundin Line top-rated selections are poised to help you get In The Money on an action-packed day. Churchill Downs, famed for its thrilling races and storied history, sets the stage for another exciting card. For bettors and fans alike, gaining an analytical edge is crucial—and that’s where the Turtle Sports Lundin Line ratings shine. These proprietary ratings combine statistical rigor with sharp racing insight, offering a unique perspective on today’s contenders.

Today’s featured action includes not one, but two marquee races that set up a tempting double: Races 10 and 11, which serve as Derby and Oaks preps, respectively. In these pivotal contests, top finishers will earn 10-5-3-2-1 points toward each race’s leaderboard. Both races are run at 1 1/16 miles and each boasts a $400,000 purse. The 10th is the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes for two-year-olds, while the 11th is the Golden Rod Stakes for two-year-old fillies.

Expect chilly conditions with highs in the low 40s and cloudy skies. The main track is fast and the turf is firm, promising a great day of competitive racing ahead!

Road to the Derby and Oaks Information

"Each year 20 horses have the once in a lifetime chance to run in the Kentucky Derby. To earn a spot in the starting gate, they must travel along the Road to the Kentucky Derby, a series of designated races at tracks across the country and around the world. Points are awarded to the top five finishers in each race. The 20 horses with the most points will earn a spot in the starting gate on the first Saturday in May."

Small Business Saturday was launched in 2010 by American Express as a way to support local retailers and small businesses during the busy post-Thanksgiving shopping period, strategically positioned between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The initiative quickly gained national momentum, with widespread adoption by communities, merchants, and consumers who saw it as an opportunity to boost local economies. In 2011, the U.S. Senate officially recognized Small Business Saturday, further solidifying its place in the holiday shopping calendar. Over time, it has grown into a nationwide movement encouraging consumers to “shop small” and helping independent businesses thrive during the holiday season and beyond.
