The Players Championship // March 11 - 14

TPC at Sawgrass

Stadium Course, definitively on every golfer's bucket list is in play this weekend and the field is full of all the household names. It’s wild to think that this was the first PGA tournament that was canceled last year due to the pandemic. So effectively there is not a defending champion. The Players Championship offers the highest purse of all tournaments throughout the year and is essentially revered as a major, almost acting as the major season opener as we have a major tournament per month starting in April. I don’t know if it’s just me as a fan, but there’s something in the air, and excitement around this tournament and the overall season this year. Maybe it’s the slow feeling of returning to “normalcy”, as we have seen the slow matriculation of more fans around the tournaments, see last week at Arnie’s place. Or maybe it’s just my appreciation of the skill and beauty of the game is growing exponentially as I write to all of you each week after watching or preparing to watch another brilliant tournament each week.

With that, I’ll give you our picks. This week we are using some of our big hitters, it just makes too much sense on such a big stage. Looking for Top 5 finishes from both Jon Rahm and Justin Thomas. Justin Thomas has had one bad week in the last 6 months, with 9 top 15 finishes out of the last 10 tournaments. We all know he has the skill and poise to get it done this week at a tournament he has never won. Jon Rahm in the same span has 6 top 10 finishes since his last win in August of last year at the BMW. I feel they both are primed for a win. I know it’s not an earth shattering sleeper pick but that’s where my gut is at this week. Hopefully, you’re staying #InTheMoney with us, and get to enjoy some good golf this weekend.
