Happy Wednesday & National Cheesecake Day! 🍰
Even though it's hump day, it's a fantastic day to head to the track and place some bets. We're off to Saratoga Springs to enjoy the races at Saratoga Race Course, presented by The NYRA. Today, there are a total of nine races, including one hurdle race (which we won't be covering), one stakes race, and plenty of exciting action to keep you entertained throughout the afternoon.
The great thing about mid-week races is that you can sneak in a bet at work if you choose, without needing to dedicate too much time, as we've done the research for you to identify the top-rated horses.
The highlighted event today is the eighth race, the Johnstone Stakes. This is a seven-furlong race on the dirt course for fillies and mares that are three years old and up, with a purse of $150,000 to be shared among the competitors.
With so many great races today, it's just a warm-up for the weekend when we expect even more action! Speaking of warming up, today's temperatures will reach the low 90s, and a heat advisory is in effect. We will enjoy mostly sunny skies, and we anticipate a fast track and firm turf.
As always, we appreciate your support of the Lundin Line and hope you find the information helpful in making the best decisions for each race today.
Saratoga Race Course (aka - The Spa, aka - see below), located in Saratoga Springs, New York, is one of the oldest and most revered thoroughbred racetracks in the United States. It opened in 1863, just a month after the Battle of Gettysburg, and quickly gained a reputation as a premier racing venue. Known as the “Graveyard of Champions” due to its history of major upsets—including Man o’ War’s only career loss—the track has long been a summer staple for horse racing enthusiasts. Operated by the New York Racing Association (NYRA), Saratoga blends tradition with top-level competition, hosting prestigious races such as the Travers Stakes, the Whitney, and the Alabama. Its rich history and picturesque setting have made it a beloved landmark in American horse racing.
