Happy Sunday & National Banana Cream Pie Day! 🍌

What a fantastic day of action yesterday as we bounced from coast to coast with the three tracks hosting Kentucky Derby & Oaks Prep Races, with each race awarding 50 points to the winner. And as the expression goes - "That's why they run the race"!

For the guys, we saw 17-1 Flood Zone pull an upset at Aqueduct in the Gotham for trainer Brad Cox with Reylu Gutierrez in the irons. Son of Into Mischief, Sovereignty completed a last-to-first rally, beating previously unbeaten River Thames in the Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream for Bill Mott, with Junior Alvardo aboard. In the San Felipe at Santa Anita, Umberto Rispoli, aboard Journalism, ran down Barnes for an upset win for trainer Michael McCarthy.

For the gals, Drexel Hill captured her first stakes win for Trainer Whit Beckman in the Busher at Aqueduct, with jockey Ben Curtis overcoming an early stumble.

The Queens M G earned her 50 points toward the KY Oaks by winning the Davona Dale by 2 3/4 over La Cara for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. with Irad Ortiz Jr. in the irons.

If you're thinking - "Hey, wait a minute, you mentioned 3 KY Derby Prep winners, but only 2 for the KY Oaks Preps." Well - hold your horses (pun intended). This weekend's final KY Oaks prep, the 100K San Ysabel will be the featured race in today's 11-race card at Santa Anita. Unfortunately, the winner may receive a reduced points award as the field is down to four with the scratches of Cipriani & Hey Jessie. Even with some possible showers predicted this afternoon, we are confident you will enjoy a great day of racing from Southern California. ☔️

Santa Anita Park, located in Arcadia, California, is one of the most iconic horse racing tracks in the United States. Opened on December 25, 1934, it quickly became a premier venue for thoroughbred racing. The track was developed by a group led by Dr. Charles H. Strub and movie producer Hal Roach. During World War II, Santa Anita was temporarily closed and repurposed as a Japanese American internment camp. After the war, it resumed racing and became home to prestigious events like the Santa Anita Handicap and the Breeders’ Cup. Known for its picturesque setting against the San Gabriel Mountains, Santa Anita remains a cornerstone of American horse racing.
