Remington Park // 01 - September 🏇🏾

While everyone knows that Oklahoma was admitted to the Union on Nov. 16th, 1907 & that the state fish is the Sand Bass, you may not know that Remington Park, located in Oklahoma City, OK was built by the late Edward J. Debartolo Sr. (who also owned Thistledown (OH) & Louisiana Downs (LA) & opened on Sept. 1, 1988. According to Wikipedia, at its opening, "it was the only American track to use a synthetic surface." Due to the hot Oklahoma summers, the synthetic surface (known as Equitrack) didn't hold up very well & was eventually replaced with natural ingredient surfaces. Remington Park is another in a long line of racetracks that was on the ropes until the bells, beeps & lights of the slot machines made their appearance in 2005. (too bad Arlington couldn't make that happen). Effects of COVID aside, the track is now doing quite well with its Quarter Horse season (Mar.-June) & its Thoroughbred season (Aug.-Dec.).

Plenty of horses running today on a very nice 9 race card which means plenty of opportunities to make some money.
