R1: [5] Tamanrassett
In his first race on Aug. 28th at Ellis Park, Tamanrassett almost broke his maiden in dramatic fashion but finished 2nd to Abarta in a photo finish. After tracking the pace until the final stretch, a bump with Mr. Peterkin mostly likely cost him the win. In that race, he earned a Speed figure of 72 which as his average, leads this field of 9 as well as leading in early, middle and finish Pace. Over the last 30 days, Trainer Eddie Kenneally is winning at 27%, ITM at 62% with a +14% ROI and Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. over that same time period is winning at 21%, ITM at 51%. (M/L 5/2)
R6: [4] Jakarta
Jakarta began his new tenure with Trainer Michael Maker with two consecutive Wins (March 18th at Gulfstream and May 16th in the Powder Break Stakes, also at Gulfstream). In her most recent race in the Caress Stakes at Saratoga on Aug 1st, she finished 2nd by a 1/2 length to Cariba but earned her highest Speed figure of 105. An average Speed of 89 place her 2nd in this field of 9 and she also enters today’s race 2nd in early, middle and finish Pace Ratings. Maker’s horses when moving down in class, as Jakarta is today, are winning at 27% and ITM at 56%. (M/L 6/5)
