R8: Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf S.

[2] Madone

Madone broker her maiden in her first and only start on July 31st at Del Mar. In that race, she bided her time until the top of the final stretch when she came of the rail on, pulled clear and went on to win by a length over Ivy League (who joins her again for this race). Her first/average Speed figure of 89 is 2nd in this field of 11 and she leads the field with a finish Pace Rating of 89 and is 2nd in early & middle Pace. With his 2 year olds over the past year, Trainer Simon Callaghan is wining at 26% and ITM at 63%. and with Jockey Flavian Prat is winning at 27% and ITM at 68%. (M/L 3/1)



R9: Del Mar Debutante S. (GI)

[3] My Girl Red

My Girl Red is undefeated as she enter today’s Del Mar Debutante. Her 2-0 career\ record includes a Win on June 14th at Santa Anita and, most recently, a Win in the Sorrento Stakes at Del Mar on Aug. 7. In the Sorrento, My Girl Red set the early pace and would go on to Win easily by almost 5 lengths. She enter today’s race with an average Speed of 86 (2/6). At this distance/surface, Jockey Flavian Prat is winning at 25% and ITM at 61%. Trainer Keith Desormeaux when teamed with Prat are winning at 33% and ITM at 78%. (M/L 3/1)



R10: Del Mar Derby (GII)

[2] California Kook

California Kook’s last race was the Del Mar Oaks S. on Aug. 22nd. She trailed the field unil the final stretch, when a late and impressive rally propelled her to a 2nd place finish and her highest Speed figure of 116. Prior to the Del Mar Oaks, she had another Place finish at Del Mar on July 20th and lost by just a head to Indian Peak in the Snow Chief Stakes on June 20th. Her last win came on May 30th at Santa Anita with Flavian Prat ridding . Prat will take the reigns today and over the last 10 day is winning at 25% at at this distance/surface is ITM at 58%.
