We're back on the track and ready to cash some tickets with you! It's been a bit quiet on the site the last couple of weeks, as this time of year tends to be slower in horse racing, and we've all been busy with our daily lives. Today, we return to Louisville, KY, to play the ponies at Churchill Downs. There are 11 races on the card, plus a special event called The Claiming Crown—more on that below. Today's highlight is the third race of the day, the Grade Three Chilukki Stakes. This one-mile dirt route, with a purse of $300k, is restricted to fillies and mares three years old and up. With the early scratch of the four horse, six runners will be vying for that attractive payout. There's plenty of action today, and we're excited to share our insights with you. The weather looks decent, with some clouds and highs in the low 70s. The track will be fast and the turf firm, so let’s have a great day and find some winners!

The Claiming Crown, inaugurated in 1999, was created as a Breeders’ Cup–style championship day for claiming horses—hard-knocking runners who form the backbone of racing but rarely get the spotlight. Established through a partnership between the National HBPA and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, the event was designed to celebrate the durability and competitiveness of horses that race for claiming tags throughout the year. Initially hosted at Canterbury Park, the Claiming Crown has since traveled to several venues, most prominently Gulfstream Park, growing in purse money, prestige, and national interest. Today it stands as a season-ending showcase for blue-collar Thoroughbreds, honoring the connections who campaign them and giving these consistent performers a chance to shine on a major stage.
