Happy Opening Day! We all know that the MLB season is long, and the betting landscape is even longer—just ask any daily MLB handicapper. Last year, I tried my best to provide you with power rankings and plays we liked every day, but I fell off towards the end of the season. Before you ask, it wasn't because we saw a downward trend in our success; life just kicked me in the nether regions, and I had to step away for a bit.
But now, we're back with our first official post on the first day of the regular season! Yes, we are aware that two games have already been played. Each week, we will update our power rankings to help you find the top plays of the day and the best possible series to bet on. You may notice that we have up and down arrows already on our Week 1 power rankings. This is because we did the rankings prior to spring training and made adjustments at the end of it. So, if you want to know whether your team had a successful spring or if your rival faced some challenges, this information will help you make informed decisions.
Another major difference this year is that we are starting right on Opening Day. Last year, we took the first four weeks to refine our system, but with nearly a full season under our belts, we are ready to dive in immediately! I will do my best to recap the previous day and provide insights into the current day's plays, but keep in mind that this is a 24-week, 7-day-a-week season, so it can be challenging. If we don't post any plays, there will be no change to our record.
We will update the power rankings after each week, except for this week since it is short, to help identify the best matchups possible. We are thrilled to have you join us on this journey, and we are ready to get "In The Money" with you all season long. PLAY BALL!
Here are a few important points to remember before you start playing any of the games listed below:
1. We will only place bets to risk, not to win. This means we will risk one unit to win whatever the payout may be. There are numerous plays available, and risking one unit can lead to quick losses.
2. We will avoid betting on lines that are at, or sometimes near, -200. Instead, we will assess teams based on the run line to determine if a good play exists.
3. The price listed is the price we found when we prepared this post. We do not shop for prices, as we are located in California and have limited options. All suggested plays will be based on this price, although your bookmaker may have slightly different odds.
4. From our experience last year, our system was particularly effective for series prices, which you will also find listed below. Please remember that the same rules from point 3 apply.
