🏇Happy Breeders' Cup Saturday & National Calzone Day!
What a great day yesterday was with Future Stars Friday landing on Halloween! We got to dress up as our favorite trainer or jockey, eat some candy, and cash some tickets. If you followed along with Mr W, you know he hit the win, exacta, and trifecta in the BC Juvenile and has his sights set on the Derby trail to bring you more winners. We had some other winners yesterday as well, and if you were able to string some of them together for a decent payout, we would love to know! Today is the day the world has been waiting for, it's Breeders' Cup Saturday, where the best horses from around the world gather to strut their stuff and see who is actually the best of the best. The only way to get into the starting gate today is to win your way in or get a special invite based on your performance last year at the Breeders' Cup. We have 12 total races today, nine stakes races, and seven races that make up the official BC card. The featured race is the Classic, which takes place in the ninth race this year. There is some debate whether this race should be the last of the day or slotted where it is as this is one of the biggest purses in the world for a single horse race at $7,000,000! While the race outcome can't be decided based on where it is slotted, it is always nice to have the big race be the last one in my opinion. We will be watching either was as defensing Classic Champion Sierra Leone looks to use that deep closing style to defend his title again some of his biggest rivals over the last two seasons. We have a great day of racing ahead of us and are happy to have you here with us. The weather in San Diego is going to be typcial again today with with highs in the 70s and sunny skies. The track is fast and the turf is firm.
The Breeders’ Cup Classic, first run in 1984 at Hollywood Park, is the marquee event of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and one of the most prestigious races in North American Thoroughbred racing. Contested at 1¼ miles on dirt, the Classic brings together the best horses from around the world, often deciding Horse of the Year honors. Over the years, it has produced unforgettable moments, such as Wild Again’s wild finish in the inaugural running, Sunday Silence’s triumph over Easy Goer in 1989, and Zenyatta’s historic win as the first female in 2009. With its rich purse and dramatic finishes, the Breeders’ Cup Classic remains a defining stage for champions and a highlight of the international racing calendar.
