It's that time of the week again where we fire up the excitement and bring you our top-rated picks so you can cash in and put some extra coins in your pocket before the weekend! This weekend, we're heading to a special meet in New Kent, Virginia, as Colonial Downs kicks off its new spring meet. Originally scheduled for four days, this meet will now run for three days only. It will feature the first Kentucky Derby Prep race on Saturday, as announced during their summer meet in 2024.
Before we dive into the featured race of the meet, we thought we’d warm up with today’s smaller card to get the adrenaline flowing. There are eight races scheduled, all seven furlongs or less, taking place on the dirt track. While each race and today’s card won’t last very long, there’s still plenty of value in playing the races today.
The excitement is high as we have another chance to visit Colonial Downs, and you can expect to hear a lot about it throughout the weekend. We’ll provide a full card breakdown each day of the meet, so please subscribe below if you haven't already to ensure you receive all the top-rated picks before the first post.

Colonial Downs is a horse racing track in New Kent County, Virginia, known for its high-quality turf racing and seasonal meets. Initially opened in 1997, it features one of the longest turf courses in North America, attracting top thoroughbred competition. After a period of closure, it was revived in 2019 with the introduction of historical horse racing machines, boosting the local economy and revitalizing Virginia’s racing scene. The track hosts major events like the Virginia Derby, drawing fans and bettors from across the country.
