Happy Thursday & National Coconut Cream Pie Day! 🥥
As this is our first Lundin Line post since Derby Day, we'd like to congratulate Sovereignty, trainer Bill Mott & all the connections for an impressive win as the son of Into Mischief pulled away from Journalism, giving Mott his second Derby victory (his first came in 2019 with Country House after the disqualification of Maximum Security). Sadly, with the decision for Sovereignty to skip the Preakness & instead target the Belmont, we won't be able to cheer on a potential Triple Crown winner this year. That said, we are still very much looking forward to the 150th running of the Preakness Stakes on May 17th at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. The field will include Wood Memorial winner Rodriquez, undefeated Goal Oriented (both trained by Bob Baffert), and possibly Derby runner-up Journalism.
Today's card doesn't have quite the drama & pomp of last Saturday with just 8 races & no stakes races - but, as we always remind you folks, even these smaller cards allow for money to be made & our two cappers hope their diligent work will lead to tickets being cashed. Before we get to the picks, check out some fun facts from...
