Happy Thursday!
Are you ready for (as Kentucky Downs describes it) "The richest 7 days in racing"
Yep - it's time for that annual whirlwind week of cards filled with more runners than you can shake a whip at! And if you're thinking - "Hey, isn't today also "National Eat Outside Day"? Yes, it is. It's also the birthday of violinist Itzhak Perlman, musician Van Morrison (Brown Eyed Girl, Moondance, et al.), and boxer Rocky Marciano (the only heavyweight champion to have finished his career undefeated).
For today's first day of racing, the folks at Kentucky Downs have put together a great 10-race card featuring the 500K FanDuel Tapit Stakes (R9), a 1 mi., 70 yd. for 3-year-olds and upward which have not won a sweepstakes in 2023. It looks like we'll have ideal conditions with sunny skies and temps in the 70s. So we suggest you head to your favorite outdoor dining spot, fire up your preferred betting app, and enjoy some exciting racing from Franklin, Kentucky (hopefully sending yourself into the weekend with some extra 💵!). Fun Fact: Kentucky Downs is one of two tracks in North America to feature a right turn – the other location is the downhill turf course at Santa Anita.
